Contact Therapy

Contact therapy uses gentle, long held contacts on areas of the body that are experiencing pain or discomfort.

These long held contacts aim to communicate a sense of safety and connection to the client, which in turn allows the client to relax into a state of stillness.

Once the body starts to settle into stillness, its natural healing mechanisms - which lie dormant while we live in an endless cycle of activity and exhaustion - activate and even old injuries of the body and mind are able to heal.

The experience of contact therapy is different for everyone. It is often deeply relaxing. It can also bring up strong sensations throughout the body, visual imagery, shifts in kinaesthetic awareness and surfacing of previously buried memories. Exploring these experiences together is a part of the process.

Contact therapy can be useful for both acute and chronic physical pain. It can also be useful for managing and overcoming challenges relating to mental health such as chronic stress, anxiety or depression.

I am currently only accepting clients on a limited basis for intensive courses of treatment (4-6 sessions spread over 2-4 weeks). Reach out via email if you're interested.
